Dashboard customization

Hey folks,
I've been trying to gather some process data for our studio and would love to do so through the dashboard view.
I really like the cumulative flow diagram and task burndown chart, but right now I can't filter tasks by specific type.
Is it possible to implement that? I think the dashboard really lacks some customization options and ways to refine the data I want to view in the charts.
It would be great to be able to select task types, teams, or dates to analyze the data more granularly. That would allow better understanding of where we have bottlenecks or opportunities for improvement.
I'm aware that it is possible to create custom widgets, but at the moment we don't have any developer to help us with that.

Let me know what you guys think and if someone else is facing the same issues.
