Remus Avram
Hi Ftrack, is it possible to add a Tree View in a Dashboard? Adding views into the Dashboards can improve the overview of the project for production.
Mattias Lagergren
Could you elaborate a little on this - is it a tree view widget similar to the one in Tasks?
Remus Avram
Yes, to use a Task TreeView widget into the Dashboards. Is it possible?
Mattias Lagergren
I'm afraid there is no tree view widget. The best solution if this is something important is to look at writing a custom widget. Let me know if you want me to send some links to get you in the right direction
tinitron
Tree widget is probably a little bit missleading. What we would like to do is to include views that we defined for the Task view or the Versions view in a dashboard. So we set up filters and columns and save a view. And then in the widget the saved view is configured and shown in the dashboard for the current context. Having the possibility to write our own widgets is nice but it is complicated and I don't see why we should do it if it can be achieved with what is already there. But maybe you have an example for a widget that shows how existing UI components can easily be reused.
Remus Avram
Thanks @tinitron for your comment! This is exactly what we want to do as well. And we have the same question. Way we can not use the existing Task view widget?

In the new Studio overview page this is how we plan to handle saving of filtres and configurations, but any equivalent does not exist in the Project dashboards. For the project dashboard the best option is either to use the views or implement custom widget. For new components that we build we put them in a public repository where they can be re-used. This is mostly smaller components like buttons, dropdowns, selectors etc: https://bitbucket.org/ftrack/ftrack-spark-components From this page we have also linked some example widgets, but they are generally more examples and not as advanced as the tree view: http://ftrack.rtd.ftrack.com/en/latest/developing/building_dashboard_widgets.html
