squinonescolon
How do we go about publishing and making sure the models contain textures. Right now we are publishing including shaders but we don't get the textures in the scenes in the publish. Thanks
Erik
Where do you store the textures? Are they also stored on the network share? Is it from the same computer the textures are not visible on the asset? Cheers,Erik
squinonescolon
Right now the students have them on their computers, since they also work from home. The question is do we put them on the server and track them with ftrack? If we decide to do that, how do we go about it?
Erik
We currently do not handle Paths for this. In most setups a network share is used to store the files. Another option is using a cloud-storage service to store the files on.
squinonescolon
Ok, thanks. I think, I've figured out a methodology for this.Cheers.
mitch.s
In most co-productions the different parties agree on using the same directory structure ('including drive letters')This is (still) the safest way to work. (not only for textures) I'd recommend squinonescolon and his students to do the same...Do your blood pressure a favour : set up a directory structure 'one time' (at the start of the course) and never worry about paths again, never risk annoying problems on each transfer. Using the cloud or some kind of network share sollution will work but it might slow down your work considerably (imagine textures consisting of image sequences, 4K textures, etc...). You don't want this kind of stuff to dictate the way you work...
squinonescolon
Waking up this thread once more. I was hoping we would get a published node for textures in Maya in 3.0. We have one for sequences for Nuke. Is that somewhere in the works?
